GET TO KNOW OUR STORY

Willie and Nadia’s story began on May 21, 2016. They were introduced by mutual friends at brunch in San Francisco. Willie was living in Oakland and spent most of his time studying for the California Bar Exam. Meanwhile, Nadia lived in Sacramento, acclimating to her career in healthcare administration and learning the ropes of being a new puppy mom to Fitz. They drank, danced and laughed the afternoon away. It was a fairytale beginning until it no longer was. As they were leaving for the next event, Nadia could not find her car. Willie and Nadia spent what felt like hours walking up and down the streets of San Francisco looking for her car. They later found out the car was stolen. What an ending to a wonderful day!

Over the next several months they built a friendship through text messages and long phone conversations. By August they had developed a strong likeness for one another, and by September there was love. The holiday season provided them an opportunity to spend quality time together and get to know each other’s families. 

In May 2017, Willie passed the bar exam and shortly after received a job offer with the San Francisco Public Defender. That same month, Nadia was presented with a job opportunity with Health Net that required her to relocate to Los Angeles. The long distance got longer, but love persisted. Willie helped Nadia pack her car, and drove her and Fitz down to Los Angeles. That very same weekend Willie asked Nadia to officially be his girlfriend. It got real!

For the next year and a half, Nadia and Willie continued to grow their relationship via late night calls, consistent text messages and frequent weekend flights to the Bay or Los Angeles. In October 2018, Nadia and Willie purchased their first home in Oakland, and Nadia and Fitz moved to the bay!! For the first time, Nadia and Willie lived in the same city. After spending the holidays together in their new home, Nadia and Willie decided to add a new member to their family. On January 5, 2019, they adopted Omar. Their pack was complete, and being puppy parents together grew their relationship even further.

On June 27, 2020, Willie and Nadia went wine tasting to celebrate their 3 year anniversary. To Nadia’s surprise, Willie dropped down on one knee and asked Nadia to be his partner in crime forever. Of course, she said yes! Fun fact: Willie had been planning to propose months prior but the pandemic put a slight wrinkle in those plans. Without hesitation, they moved forward with wedding planning during the pandemic. The rest is history, and they look forward to celebrating their future with you all in their hometown of Sacramento, CA.
